Mountain Mentorship Level 3 - Winterstoke 2025

Take turns in the hot seat, leading the group, navigation, uptracking or deciding what is safe to ski with feedback from an experienced guide. This is great opportunity to hone in your skills and have more clarity on your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to backcountry safety and travel. Level 3 is geared to people who have completed their AST 2 or equivalent and logged a minimum of 2 years in the backcountry.

Prerequisites

• Ability to comfortably tour (skin) uphill 1500 meters vertical (4-6 hours)
• Comfortable skiing/riding the equivalent of a double black ski run at a North American resort
• AST 2 or equivalent avalanche training

• Pre-trip planning
• Avalanche forecasting
• Navigation and track setting
• Line choice and group management
• Go or no-go decisions
• Feedback navigating glaciated and technical terrain
