Pre-Trip Planning and Execution - Winterstoke 2025

Pre-trip planning and hazard forecasting might not seem glamorous, but it’s the process that can make or break your backcountry day. In this clinic, you’ll learn how guides and industry pros begin their decision-making from home and carry that knowledge into the field. Discover how effective planning sets the foundation for safer, more successful adventures.

Prerequisites

• Ability to comfortably ski tour (skin) uphill 1000 meters vertical (3-4 hours)
• Comfortable skiing/riding the equivalent of a black diamond ski run at a North American resort
• AST 1 or equivalent avalanche training

What you will Learn?

• Am avalanche forecast
• Pre-trip planning
• Terrain forecasting 
• Ongoing snowpack evaluation and confirmation
• Pm avalanche condition and report

6:1 participant to guide ratio 

This clinic will take place in the Whistler backcountry using the Whistler Blackcomb Lift system for access.  A backcountry pass will be available for purchase for $45.
