Mountain Mentorship Level 2 - Winterstoke 2025

Take turns in the hot seat, leading the group in navigation, uptracking, and deciding what terrain is safe to ski—all with feedback from an experienced guide. This is a great opportunity to refine your skills and gain clearer insights into your strengths and weaknesses in backcountry safety and travel.

Level 2 is designed for those who have completed their AST 2 (or equivalent) and want to build confidence in leadership and decision-making. By the end of the clinic, you’ll have a stronger understanding of both personal and group decision-making in challenging environments.

Prerequisites

• Ability to comfortably ski tour (skin) uphill 1000 meters vertical (3-4 hours)
• Comfortable skiing/riding the equivalent of a black diamond ski run at a North American resort
• AST 1 or equivalent avalanche training

What you will Learn?

• Pre-trip planning
• Avalanche forecasting
• Navigation and track setting
• Line choice and group management
• Go or no go decisions

6:1 participant to guide ratio 

This clinic will take place in the Whistler backcountry using the Whistler Blackcomb Lift system for access.  A backcountry pass will be available for purchase for $45.
