We have engaged a select-group of Pro-Skiers to offer the most skier-specific educational backcountry experiences ever.

Learn from big mountain pros: Austin Ross, Eric Hjorleifson, Matty Richard, JD Hare, Justin Lamoureux

Lead by ACMG/IFMGA mountain and ski guide: Ross Berg and Ben Johns

The technical skill level of so many resort-skiers these days is
off-the-charts! But learning how to apply those skiing-skills in the
uncontrolled backcountry can be very dangerous! It really requires
mentoring.

Altus Progression Camps will focus on these skills:
  • SAFE ROUTE FINDING IN THE MOUNTAINS!
  • How to recognize all potential dangers, and minimize risk.
  • Risk analysis and decision making techniques.
  • Snow and Weather evaluation, for the Coast Mtns, and elsewhere.
  • Group dynamics. How to work together to make good decisions and perform safely.
  • Relevant, basic technical skills: rope work, cornice control, and ski technique.

And can also provide guidance in these areas:

  • Organizing an effective and safe photo shoot in the backcountry.
  • What to realistically expect from a pro-ski career.
  • How to train for a ski career.
  • How to navigate the ski-industry (ie. How to get-ahead in business.)

Altus Progression Camps are the necessary bridge between expert
in-bounds freeskiing, and a life-long enjoyment of the winter
wilderness. We will provide the best possible preparation for any
skilled skier who intends to cross that orange rope, and these camps
will be especially valuable to a young Freeskier striving toward a Pro
career of their own.
